Matthew 1: 22-26
All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Naming a child is a tricky business - this is something they have to live with for the rest of their days. Here the angel is telling Joseph that not only does he have to be a father to a child that he had no involvement in, but also that he should call him Immanuel. God with us.  Calling him after his dad....
I have endless admiration for Joseph.  To me he is the unsung.  He is so obedient to God. He accepts his role in the life of Jesus and obeys all the commands he is given.
